A virtual consultation is $249.99 plus HST for 30 minutes by phone or video. An on-site consultation is $349.99 plus HST for up to an hour at your home. On-site is the better value if the question is about your specific foundation, because half the answer is in what is under the slab.

What goes wrong with DIY radon systems?
The most common failure is material choice. Many homeowners install their own systems using SDR-35 pipe, the 4 inch white pipe, which is not designed for above-ground use. Over time it becomes brittle and cracks, and a cracked radon pipe leaks the gas back into the house it was meant to remove.
A DIY system may also fail to meet local building codes and best practices, which leaves you exposed to ongoing risk unless it is regularly inspected and maintained. None of that means do not do it. It means the parts that are easy to get wrong are worth an hour of someone else's experience, which costs a fraction of doing it twice.

Why not just install it myself from a video?
You can, and some people do it well. The parts that go wrong are the ones a video cannot check for your house: whether one suction point actually reaches the whole slab, whether the fan is sized for the pressure field, and whether depressurizing the basement is going to backdraft a combustion appliance. Those are the things this consultation is for.
Can you inspect a system I already built?
Yes. That is a common reason people book the on-site consultation. We look at what is there, tell you what is working, and tell you plainly what is not.
Is a DIY system a problem when I sell the house?
It can be. A buyer or their inspector will ask what the system is and whether it works, and a documented professional install with a verification reading answers that in a sentence. A DIY system with no paperwork invites a conditional. That is worth weighing before you start.
